Kai Piippo is one of the founders (now the sole owner) of Ljusarkitektur AB, (Ljusarkitektur = Light architecture) the leading lighting design company in Scandinavia. Ljusarkitektur is working with various different lighting design projects, both interior and exterior in all of Scandinavia, USA, China and Middle East.

Before Kai started Ljusarkitektur he was working with lighting for theatre productions where he understood the power of lighting design and saw its possibilities within architecture at a time when architectural lighting design was not established as a profession as yet.

Kai Piippo has been teaching at the Light centre in Gothenburg, Sweden and has started Lights in Alingsås in 1999. He has been involved in various workshops in lighting design in Alingsås. Alingsås is a little town in Sweden but it has become internationally known for its instructive workshops in lighting.

Year 2000-2004 Kai has been an active committee member of PLDA (Professional Lighting Design Association) as Director of International Development. Since 2009 Kai is in the board of directors in the Swedish Alvar Aalto Association.

2009 Kai began working on a book of lighting design for homes which will be published during 2010.

Kai’s strength is to develop cutting edge design concepts which contribute very much to the overall success of the projects Ljusarkitektur is involved in.
