We are lighting Şairler Sofası Park in Akaretler/Beşiktaş during ALD İstanbul! The lighting installation designed by turkish lighting design offices, Planlux (Korhan Şişman), Seven Lights (Mustafa Seven), Nergiz Arifoğlu Light Style (Nergiz Arifoğlu), ZKLD (Zeki Kadirbeyoğlu), will demonstrate how “good lighting” can make a difference. Installation will be open to public visit from 15th of October till 26th of October (Right after ALD Istanbul).

In the Şairler Sofası Park, designed by Erhan İşsözen, there are sculptures of 10 poets lived in Beşiktaş and around during 19th and 20th century. Within these famous poets there are names like Melih Cevdet Anday, Behçet Necatigil, Orhan Veli Kanık, Özdemir Asaf, Neyzen Tevfik, Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı, Necati Cumalı.

“Lonely poets come to life with light”

Şairler Sofası Park, which includes a kid play area, gets not many visitors during day. But at night, the situation is more dramatic. The only visitors are homeless people looking for a hot spot to sleep.  These 11 days during the installation, will also prove how important light can become when the subject is the social life during night.

I beleive these photos taken during a visit that we had for LightMapping İstanbul event, gives a clear vision how lonely the poets are.
